Full life cycle

Berkley Demolition embrace the full life cycle of the demolition process from early works appraisals, pre-commencement audits, risk assessments and preparation of site waste management plans through to demolition, site clearance, final documentation and handover.

In the early stages of a project we work closely with owners, owners’ agents, clients’ representatives, project managers, quantity surveyors and cost consultants to assess risks, estimate costs and determine methods of maximising resource efficiency and recovery.

Site Mobilisation Services

We provide a full range of site mobilisation services including erection of site hoardings, setting up of site offices, welfare facilities and site security and installation of scaffolding and Monarflex sheeting.

The Optimum Methodology

We determine the optimum methodology to be used for each project, selecting the most appropriate plant equipment and machinery – we operate a large and diverse plant fleet that includes specialist high reach machines, mobile crushers, screeners and mechanical excavators.

We perform our work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, minimising noise, dust, odours, waste, pollution and any inconvenience to the general public.

Full assessment

The nature, make-up and condition of the structure to be demolished is assessed including its previous use and history, the surrounding area and any necessary service terminations or diversions. Special requirements such as façade retention, architectural salvage and the removal of hazardous materials are also evaluated as well as methods to achieve maximum resource recovery through on-site sorting, crushing and recycling operations.

Acts & regulations

A critical requirement of the demolition process is to have a thorough understanding of the statutory and legislative requirements that need to be adhered to, depending upon the type of work. The most important acts and regulations are:

The Building Act 1984
Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974
The Environmental Protection Act 1990

On behalf of clients we manage all statutory requirements and documentation relevant to the demolition process including Section 80 notification to the local authority.
