Valentines House

Soft Strip, Recycling

Berkley Demolition Ltd was awarded the contract to undertake the soft strip of Valentines House in July 2015. The work started in August 2015 for an initial period of 10 weeks. The works consisted of stripping out 5080m² of office space and rooftop plant rooms over 6 floors. All of the incoming services were isolated and temporary water and power supplies re-installed on every other floor.

Each floor including the plant rooms were stripped back to the bare structure. All waste was separated into varying waste streams prior to being removed from site, to achieve maximum recycling values. Once the strip out was completed, Berkley’s were then instructed to remove the three passenger lifts serving the building and erect a site perimeter hoarding.

The follow-on contract to add four further floors and create 122 apartments will start in January 2016.
